DECEPTION GAMES PERTH
Booking Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to bookings made with Deception Games Perth (DGP). By paying a deposit or, where full payment is required, paying the booking invoice, the customer agrees to these Terms & Conditions.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
1. Booking Requests
Submitting a booking request through the Deception Games Perth website, email, telephone or another method does not constitute a confirmed booking and does not reserve the requested date.
After receiving a booking request, DGP will contact the customer to discuss the event, confirm availability and determine whether the proposed venue is suitable.
Where required, a site inspection will be arranged before DGP approves the booking.
Once DGP is satisfied that the event can proceed, an invoice will be issued.
2. Provisional Date Hold & Deposit
Once DGP has approved the event and issued an invoice, the requested date will be provisionally held for 5 calendar days from the date of the invoice.
A $100 deposit must be received within this 5-day period to secure the booking.
The booking is not confirmed until the required deposit has been received.
If payment is not received within 5 days, the provisional hold will automatically expire and DGP may make the date available to other customers.
If the date remains available after the 5-day period, the original customer may still secure the booking by making payment after confirming availability with DGP.
3. Bookings Made Close to the Event Date
Bookings made between 8 and 14 days before the requested event date may be accepted at DGP's discretion and must be paid in full to confirm the booking.
DGP does not accept new bookings 7 days or less before the requested event date.
Availability is not guaranteed until the required payment has been received and DGP has confirmed the booking.
4. Final Payment
Unless full payment was required when booking, the remaining balance must be paid no later than 14 days before the event.
If the outstanding balance has not been received by the due date, DGP will attempt to contact the customer. DGP reserves the right to cancel the booking for non-payment.
Where DGP cancels a booking because the customer has failed to pay the outstanding balance by the required date, the cancellation provisions in these Terms will apply, subject always to the customer's rights under Australian Consumer Law.
5. Cancellation by the Customer
All cancellations must be made in writing by email to Deception Games Perth.
The date DGP receives the cancellation email will be considered the effective cancellation date.
For customer-requested cancellations:
14 days or more before the event:
Payments made will be refunded.
7–13 days before the event:
The $100 deposit will be retained. Any additional amount already paid will be refunded.
Less than 7 days before the event:
Payments made are non-refundable for customer-requested cancellations.
These cancellation terms do not limit any refund, remedy or other right the customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Rescheduling
All requests to reschedule an event must be made in writing by email.
Requests received 7 days or more before the event may be rescheduled without a rescheduling fee, subject to DGP's availability.
Requests received less than 7 days before the event will incur a $100 rescheduling fee, subject to availability.
A new date must be agreed upon between the customer and DGP. DGP cannot guarantee that a customer's preferred replacement date will be available.
Any difference in the price of the selected service resulting from a customer-requested change will be discussed and agreed upon before the rescheduled booking is confirmed.
These provisions do not affect rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
7. Player Numbers
The customer is responsible for providing an accurate expected player count when making the booking.
Player numbers must remain within the minimum and maximum numbers specified for the selected game and package.
Changes to player numbers should be provided to DGP as early as possible.
For Murder Is on the Menu, the final player list must be confirmed no later than 14 days before the event, as characters and game materials are prepared specifically for the group.
Once the final player count has been confirmed and preparations have commenced, reductions in player numbers will be treated in accordance with the cancellation provisions applicable at that time.
If player numbers fall below the minimum required for the selected game, DGP will discuss available options with the customer on a case-by-case basis. This may include changing the game or format, rescheduling, or, where suitable and agreed, DGP assisting with additional players.
Where the event cannot proceed because the customer's player numbers fall below the required minimum, the normal cancellation or rescheduling terms will apply.
8. Venues & Site Inspections
The customer is responsible for ensuring they have permission to hold the event at the nominated venue.
Home venues will require a site inspection before the booking is approved.
DGP may also require an inspection of any other venue where there are questions regarding space, access, safety or suitability.
For venues where an inspection is not considered necessary, DGP may contact the customer or venue by telephone to confirm relevant details.
A site inspection does not guarantee that a venue will be approved. If DGP determines that the proposed venue is unsuitable, DGP will discuss reasonable alternatives with the customer before declining the booking.
9. Venue Requirements & Access
The customer must provide a venue with sufficient safe and suitable space for the selected game and number of players.
The customer must advise DGP of any relevant venue restrictions, including access times, noise restrictions, parking arrangements, stairs, loading restrictions or limitations on the use of equipment.
Where required for the selected experience, suitable access to electricity must be available.
The customer is responsible for obtaining any necessary permission from the venue owner, manager or other relevant party.
10. Parking & Additional Venue Costs
Any parking charges or other venue-specific access costs reasonably required for DGP to deliver the event are the responsibility of the customer where those costs have been disclosed and agreed before the booking is confirmed.
Where possible, parking and loading arrangements will be identified during the site inspection or venue confirmation process.
11. Travel Area
Deception Games Perth is based in Balcatta, Western Australia, and generally services venues located within approximately one hour's travel from Balcatta.
Bookings outside this area may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Where DGP agrees to travel outside its normal service area, any additional travel charge will be quoted and agreed with the customer before the booking is confirmed.
12. Outdoor Events
Outdoor events may be accepted on a case-by-case basis and are dependent upon suitable weather, shelter, lighting, power and other venue conditions.
Where weather forecasts indicate that an outdoor event may be affected, DGP will aim to contact the customer approximately 7 days before the event to discuss available alternatives.
Depending on the circumstances, alternatives may include moving the event indoors, changing the setup or rescheduling the event.
Weather-related situations will be considered reasonably on a case-by-case basis, taking into account safety, venue conditions and circumstances outside either party's control.
13. Event Start & Finish Times
Customers should ensure that guests are ready to begin at the agreed event start time.
If the event is delayed because guests, catering, the venue or other customer-controlled arrangements are not ready, DGP may adjust the game or experience to accommodate the remaining available time.
Where practical, DGP will allow the event to run up to 15 minutes beyond the scheduled finish time.
DGP cannot guarantee an extension beyond 15 minutes, particularly where doing so would affect another booking, venue restrictions, staff availability or other commitments.
14. Food, Catering & Dietary Requirements
Deception Games Perth does not provide catering, food or beverages.
Where appropriate, DGP may provide suggested menus or themed food ideas. These are suggestions only.
The customer is responsible for arranging all food and beverages and for discussing allergies, intolerances, dietary requirements and food-safety matters directly with their caterer, venue or whoever is preparing the food.
DGP accepts no responsibility for the preparation or supply of food or beverages by third parties, except to the extent liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Alcohol
Alcohol may be consumed responsibly during a DGP event where permitted by the venue and applicable law.
The customer is responsible for the conduct of their guests and for ensuring alcohol consumption does not create an unsafe or seriously disruptive environment.
DGP may pause or end an event where intoxication or alcohol-related behaviour creates a genuine safety concern or prevents the event from reasonably continuing.
Where an event is ended because of customer or guest behaviour, refunds will not ordinarily be provided, subject to Australian Consumer Law.
16. Behaviour & Safety
DGP is committed to providing an enjoyable and safe environment for customers, guests and Storytellers.
Threatening, abusive, discriminatory, violent, dangerous or seriously disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
DGP may pause an event and give the customer an opportunity to address inappropriate behaviour where it is safe and reasonable to do so.
Where behaviour creates an immediate safety risk, or where serious inappropriate behaviour continues, DGP may end the event.
Where an event is ended as a result of the conduct of the customer or their guests, no contractual refund will ordinarily be provided, subject to rights available under Australian Consumer Law.
17. Children & Young People
Deception Games Perth does not currently offer events specifically intended for children.
Guests under 18 may attend an otherwise adult or family event where the nature of the event is appropriate, provided they remain under the supervision and responsibility of their parent or legal guardian.
DGP reserves the right to decline any booking or participation arrangement where DGP reasonably determines that the event would constitute child-related work requiring a Working with Children Check or where DGP is otherwise not legally permitted to provide the service.
The customer must inform DGP before booking if the event is primarily intended for children or young people.
18. Damage to DGP Property
All equipment, props, game components and other materials supplied by DGP remain the property of DGP unless expressly stated otherwise.
Customers and guests are expected to treat DGP property with reasonable care.
The person making the booking may be responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing DGP property deliberately damaged, stolen or damaged through negligent conduct by the customer or their guests.
Normal wear and tear, accidental damage occurring despite reasonable care, and damage not caused by the customer or their guests will not be charged to the customer.
19. Photography & Video
Deception Games Perth does not photograph or record customers or their guests for DGP promotional purposes as part of the standard event service.
Customers and their guests may take their own photographs and videos, subject to the rules of their venue and the privacy and consent of other people attending.
Customers may choose to share photographs when leaving reviews or through other public channels. Any such sharing is voluntary and remains the customer's choice.
Nothing in the booking constitutes permission for DGP to use identifiable photographs of customers or guests for advertising or promotional purposes.
20. Game Materials & Intellectual Property
Game materials supplied by DGP may include scripts, character information, clues, evidence, handouts, graphics, game documents and other original or licensed material.
Unless otherwise stated, these materials are supplied solely for use during the booked event.
DGP-created materials must not be copied, reproduced, published, distributed, sold or used to conduct another event without prior written permission from DGP.
Some games hosted by DGP may include material owned by third parties. Rights in those materials remain with their respective owners and are subject to any applicable licence or usage conditions.
21. Customer Responsibilities
The person making the booking is responsible for:
providing accurate booking and contact information;
ensuring the venue is available and suitable;
obtaining permission to use the venue;
providing agreed access for setup and pack-down;
informing DGP of venue restrictions or relevant access requirements;
providing agreed facilities or power where required;
ensuring guests comply with reasonable safety instructions;
providing accurate player numbers within required deadlines; and
ensuring the conduct of guests does not prevent DGP from safely delivering the event.
22. Cancellation by Deception Games Perth
In the unlikely event that DGP needs to cancel an event for reasons within DGP's control, DGP will contact the customer as soon as reasonably possible.
The customer will be offered the choice of:
rescheduling the event to a mutually suitable date; or
a refund of amounts paid for services DGP is unable to provide.
Nothing in this section limits any additional rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.
23. Circumstances Beyond Reasonable Control
Events may occasionally be affected by circumstances outside the reasonable control of either DGP or the customer. These may include severe weather, natural disasters, emergencies, government restrictions, venue closure, significant transport disruption or similar unforeseen events.
Where this occurs, DGP and the customer will first attempt to find a reasonable solution, which may include modifying, relocating or rescheduling the event.
Any refund, rescheduling or other remedy will take into account the circumstances and any rights or obligations applying under Australian Consumer Law.
24. Changes to a Confirmed Booking
Any significant change requested by the customer after confirmation — including the game, package, date, venue or event requirements — is subject to DGP approval and availability.
Where a requested change affects the price or preparation required, DGP will advise the customer before agreeing to the change.
DGP will not materially change the agreed service or price after confirmation without the customer's agreement, except where reasonably necessary because of circumstances outside DGP's control or as otherwise permitted by law.
25. Australian Consumer Law
These Terms & Conditions are intended to operate alongside, and not replace, the customer's rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Consumer guarantees and other statutory rights may apply to services supplied by DGP. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies a right, guarantee, remedy or liability where doing so would be unlawful.
26. Acceptance of Terms
Submitting a booking request does not confirm a booking or reserve a date.
Once DGP has approved the event and issued an invoice, the date will be provisionally held in accordance with Section 2.
Payment of the required deposit — or full payment where full payment is required — confirms the booking and constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
